What Do you like best about timeraiser?

I like that the format encourages working with groups that I have not worked with before. Also exposes people to what organizations are in the community.

The non-profit that I volunteered at for my hours was JABC,Kamloops Art Council and the Pit Stop.I enjoy mentoring young people with JABC,to gain skill that they will use for the rest of their lives.I look forward to encouraging more youth in their entrepreneurial journey

What Do you like best about timeraiser?

This event is great because you see familiar faces and seeing the previous winners is motivating and satisfying.

What I love best about my piece is that it describes me very well. The pet aspect mixed with the industrial aspect that describes my work/life balance.

What Do you like best about timeraiser?

The timeraiser brings different communities together. It is a wonderful way to present the need for volunteerism in the city. Likewise it is also an event showcasing the talent of local artists through the generosity of volunteerism. It is a good Match. And it is just plain fun!

My volunteering went to Four Paws and The Kamloops Food Bank. I also did a bit in the BC Winter Games,Kamloops Women’s Society, North Shore Business improvements, Kamloops This Week Raise a Reader and Brennan’s Ugly Sweater Run.

Volunteering at Four Paws I got a sense of connection to our community. I am fairly new to Kamloops so it is easy to get caught up in the good things about the city.To me as a citizen it just makes sense to give back. Volunteering where people can come and get help with their pets is so rewarding.Especially knowing the feeling I would have if I was separated from my pets

What Do you like best about timeraiser?

I love the whole concept of the timeraiser event. It is a incredible circle of giving and receiving. It is a great chance to have one on one time with the non-profit agencies, learn more about the opportunities are out there and where you would be a good fit-if you want to volunteer but don’t know where to start, this is the event.

I volunteered my time with the Boys and Girls Club JDRF and United Way.Each organization serves its own purpose and they touch me in different ways but have found an undeniable great fit with the Junior Achievements. It is my absolute pleasure to mentor the youth in our community about Financial literacy.

I love the uniqueness of this event. Timeraisers concept benefits so many volunteer organizations as they can receive a new pool of volunteers to help them out. Supports the community of Kamloops as it helps support organizations that provide valuable services to the people that live here.

The organizations that I volunteered for were Kids of Steele,Special Olympics,X Fest,People in Motion and Kamloops Art Council.I enjoyed each organization I volunteered for.I meet new people.Even though I was giving to others,it was also a self fulfilling experience.Participating as a volunteer opened up my eyes and heart to many organizations and their work.

September Kuromi

Our KTW Timeraiser of the month for September is, in fact, September Kuromi.

September brought this event to Kamloops in 2012 after seeing it in Toronto. She knew Kamloops would be a perfect fit for it, given the strong art and volunteer community for which we are known. September brought sponsors on board to pay local artists for their work and put an art auction with live music and appies. During the event, people could bid
on the pieces, but, instead of bidding money, they would bid volunteer hours for local non- profit agencies.

It was win-win for everyone. Kamloops This Week came on board as title sponsor to elevate this unique experience, as it deserves to be. We are sad to report that September and her family have relocated to Seattle for a new opportunity.
September will be at the KTW Timeraiser on Nov. 15 and we invite everyone to come and wish her well on her new venture.

We are excited to announce that Michael and Jennifer O’Brien from 4Cats Art Studio are stepping in to take over as the new organizers moving forward. We know that they will bring exciting, creative new ideas to this already amazing fundraiser.

Ravens Along Mt Robson By Kirk MacMillan

What organizations did you volunteer for to pay for your art?

Special Olympics, JDRF, Rotoract.

What do you like best about the organizations you volunteered for?

Volunteering for numerous Charities was a great way to see how the different organizations give back to the community in their own unique way. The Special Olympics was amazing to see so volunteers many come together to ensure the athletes could I compete at doing the sport that they love. The diversity of the tasks of working with Rotoract was my favourite part of that organization, as every day was different and engaging.

What do you like best about your artwork?

Growing up, I always lived near the mountains, I miss being able to look out the window and see the snow- covered peaks. I was immediately drawn to it when I first saw it on display. Now whenever I look at those mountains, I am reminded of home.

What do you like best about the Timeraisers event?

TimeRaiser is a fantastic event for bringing the community together. From the local charities with the volunteers to the local artists being able e to display their amazing talents. With having so many local charities in the same place allows you to really determine which ones will be the best fit for you and your skill set to help you create the greatest impact within the community.
